Island Roads has taken a number of steps to help ensure it is well prepared to meet the effects of today’s expected storm. These arrangements can be called up throughout the holiday period as required.
They’ve additional teams on standby to support to the new Flood Response Unit they recently acquired and also their gully emptying and road sweeping teams.
They have also ensured sandbag stocks have been replenished. Furthermore additional tree specialists are on standby should the expected high winds bring down trees onto the highway network.
They will be issuing alerts as required throughout the night.
There have been a few calls requesting sandbags. They are available at the usual locations: Daish Way, Newport, St Mary’s Road car park, Cowes, River Road car park, Yarmouth and Simeon Street, Ryde.
